Iran: shit's gettin' real
There are lots of other voting irregularities, such as the main opposition leader not getting the majority in his own hometown (especially since Iranian voting patterns follow ethnic lines a lot) and the guy who placed third (fourth?) got about 16% less than he did the last time he was up for election, which is pretty unprecedented in any democracy.
I don't follow Iran as much as I should but I was sure that Ahmadinejad was going to lose the election, it was pretty well known that his popularity was waning.

Seriously is that the only thing distinctive about many of our members? Their avatars? No personality traits, facts about their lives, famous games, posting quirks, or whatever? That's it?

Not 100% related to the thread but I wanted to say that I actually deduced who geodude was (I knew him on a couple other forums) just from his personality on this forum. Some people's personalities are really distinctive, even on the internet.

Perhaps, like me, they were unaware of this topic until now, or perhaps they fear reprisals or feel their opinion will be ignored. (This community tends to be really unfriendly toward people who don't "get on the bandwagon" of any given change.)

My signature for instance was used only to provide an unobtrusive link to EACH INDIVIDUAL GAME I'VE MADE in the text of every single post that I made. RMN3 will not have a feature for doing this. Users will, at best, have to click my user name, click on games, and then navigate the games menu to get to my individual games from my posts/comments; they won't be able to check out any of my games within one click from any of my posts.

Why is RPG Maker stuck in the 20th Century, graphics-wise?

It wouldn't be bad if it was optional, but 2D graphics are a hundred times more beautiful than anything on the PSOne. Even Final Fantasy V looks better than Final Fantasy VII based on charm.
This is highly specious and subjective and it is pretty lame that you stated your opinion like a fact.
That's because it is a fact. FF7 looks like garbage. Cloud is like this ugly walking polygonal bitch and is way way way too far away from the "camera" the whole game. I'd take snes RPG graphics over that shit any day.

I guarantee I'm less likely to play any of the games with the super amazing ultra lighting/shadow effects and other purely visual bullshit that no one really cares about than I am to play something like Earthbound or Ghosts of Aliens

While I don't like the idea of someone making an FF7 fangame or whatever it is you're doing, I actually think the sprite is fine. Though the advice given by the two people above me is pretty good, it really depends on the level of detail you're trying to achieve.
And maybe whether or not you want people to bother looking at your game.
